Peter Van Miller (pg 1 of 3)
|
Hi,
I'm Peter Van Miller and I'm a bass guitarist, having played in Southern California for a number of years with good people (although I was raised in Alabama). I'm a Graphic Illustrator/Designer in the Huntsville, Alabama area now and I play in a band called "Southern Drawl".
I live on the top of Brindlee Mountain near Huntsville overlooking a half mile wide ravine and another mountainside (my view is sorta breathtaking). It's usually pretty serene and is good for contemplation and relaxing. I've always enjoyed mountains and was raised on one called Monte Sano in Huntsville about 100 miles south of Nashville. I'm playing my "Rogue" 8 string bass in the upper picture and a blue "Jazz" fretless 4 string in the lower one.

One of my favortie hobbies, although I haven't been real active lately, is Ham radio. My callsign is AC4LA and my favorite Ham band is 17 meters although I also like 10 and 40 meters. I also get on 2 meters and 440 MHz every once in a while.

I've got an A.A.S. Degree in Graphic Design/Computer Graphics/Electronic Imaging (and 25 years experience in the field which means more to me). I've pursued a B.A. in Art (with an emphasis on Computer Graphics) with a minor in English at Athens State University and UAH here in Alabama but I got bored with the endless drivel of academia which no longer seemed to interest me, and besides, I realized my motivation was fueled by my compulsion to maintain my 4.0 average more than my need for the knowledge that was being gleaned by my participation in the process.

I am currently working on a futuristic fictional novel
(which may come true) but I can't give you the plot or someone else might beat me to it as I don't think there's ever been a story written like it (it involves other planets is my only hint)...
I also enjoy reading and I collect Bibles and anything involving Judaism which I enjoy, but I'm not going to get into any religious diatribe on this site.
